HappE: We took our first trip to the east side of the country, also known as the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean is over there too. Cool! Up until now we have only been on the Pacific side of the country so it was a great adventure to travel to the other side. There was a really nice relaxed ‘island vibe’, Jamaican feel to the place.
Fiestas and the Beach surrounded by Jungle, who could ask for more 🙂
We stayed near Puerto Viejo in a small town called Playa Chiquita. It was at the very edge/tip of Costa Rica near the Panama border.
We rented a great little house with some new friends and brought our dog. The house was more of a Costa Rican style house that was mostly outside. It was great!! We got to basically hang out outdoors and slept in sealed bedrooms, it was perfect. Especially when it rained, we got to be in our outside in a covered living room.

A few critters on the property
(this purple thing is at least 4 inches)
Poison Dart Frog hopped into our kitchen. This did not look like breakfast? 😉
It was very, very bright and pretty 🙂
(i released it behind the house near the river)
We enjoyed some time in the beautiful tropical ocean. There was some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen and we only saw a few that trip.
Looking forward to going back beach exploring.

JAGUAR RESCUE CENTER
One thing we had planned on our trip was the Jaguar Rescue Center. I have been excited about his for months, I have heard only great things. We took a private tour where it was just the guide, Us and the animals. I highly recommend, it was great. We got to be up close with the animals and got to ask a ton of questions.

We were greeted by a baby Anteater. Funny little creatures.
Toucan with broken beak
They have a loooong skinny tongue as long as their beak. Crazy!
Porcupine!
That dark fur on his body is covering his sharp quills underneath.

Monkey time!!!
Monkeys need a lot of space to be happy healthy monkeys. It is pretty amazing what the Jaguar Rescue Center does with the monkeys that have been rescued. During the day they let these misfit rescue monkeys out into the jungle to do monkey things. They get to play in primary rainforest open and free to play and do monkey things. But most of these monkeys can not live on their own and are not ready to leave so they come back to a caged habitat to eat and sleep each night.
We got to feed them! About 15 monkeys (Spider, Howler and 1 capuchin) all jumped and climbed all over us while we fed them. They just came back from the jungle and were very hungry.
The momma of the rescue. The monkeys loved her so much.
Baby Monkey Cuteness
Take a breath, the cuteness is NOT over.
