Course Description:
Permaculture is a whole system design approach that is mainly applied to the design and creation of permanently productive human landscapes.
The Permaculture Seminar will provide you with the core tools needed to develop a regenerative project, whether it’s a garden, a house or a community. We will learn the ethical foundation of Permaculture, the guiding principles and the tools of the trade. As part of the seminar we will be doing site observations, analysis and design practices. We will learn practical skills that are a baseline for soil and ecosystem regeneration and low maintenance productivity.
Some topics that will be covered include:
- Philosophy, ethics and principles of Permaculture
- Site analysis and assessment of resources,
condition and potability - Natural patterns and their application in design
- Bio intensive gardening
- Renewable energy
- Natural building
- Fertility strategies
- Food Forests
- Aquaculture and water systems
- Animal husbandry
- Food processing
Teacher Bios:

holds a MSc. in Ecosocial Design, is a permaculture teacher, Farmer and Designer. He has worked In Israel, USA, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Colombia. With broad experience and knowledge, from the design process and through the implementation of sustainable systems on small, medium and large scale. He lives in Costa Rica in the La Ecovilla Ecovillage, consulting on sustainable living projects, farming and raising 2 kids, Alma and Nevo together with his partner Melina Hurtado.
Ecologist and Agricultural Engineer, Permaculturist and farmer, Melina has broad experience in Agroecology, sustainable agriculture and Fair trade. She recently focused on the Eco-social dimension of agriculture, weaving the network of solidarity and sustainability with small scale farmers through education. She is the mother of Nevo and Alma.
