Yoga in Harmony with Horses

Yoga in Harmony with Horses

July 8 – 29, 2016

This is a unique 200 hour YTT course offered in a home style setting.  Graduates are skilled in teaching the beginning series of Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha, and Sivananda.  The course includes the opportunity to practice yoga and meditation with our horses.

Learn to achieve richer communication and trust with your horse through meditation, visualization, asanas and pranayama.

We use the same skill sets when we enter, hold, and leave a yoga asana that we use when we interact with our equine companions. We enter an asana with calm determination, hold the pose with grace and quiet breath, and leave the pose with awareness and thankfulness. The rhythmic poses and yoga breathing exercises help you learn how to breathe in rhythm with movement and enhance your awareness.
The same is true when we ask our horses to perform up and down transitions. When we ask with calm firmness they respond willingly and happily. Horses are noble creatures capable of great physical feats and they generously share that with us if we are open to accepting their gifts. We need only quiet the “noise” in our minds and listen.

Enjoy Yoga and meditation sessions engulfed in the beauty of Cahuita National Park.

Among the activities offered at Magellan Inn are snorkling in coral reefs, beach and jungle horse treks, and guided nature hikes. Find peace and serenity. A complete retreat itenerary is available at Yoga in Harmony with Horses.

A yoga practice prepares us to find that quiet place within each of us and listen for our horses’ invitation to come play.

  • Holistic riding creates a deeper connection between body, breath, mind and soul.
  • Integrating Yoga into our riding and our time spent with horses enhances awareness, balance and flexibility.
  • Breathing in rhythm creates focus and relaxation.

Which leads us towards the goal of union with our horse, the perfect dance, the two becoming one, moving effortlessly in harmony.

Teacher Bio:
Corinne Rosita Aulakh

Yoga, it’s practice and philosophy, is a journey.

I first learned of yoga when I was 24 years old and pregnant with my first child. I began my daily yoga practice incorporating yoga pranayama, asanas, and meditation in 2010. Before that I had “dabbled” in yoga asanas but did not take my practice deeper than that.

I expanded my yoga practice to include my interactions with horses and discovered the “total oneness” natural horsemanship and yoga share. My personal journey to discover my true Soul now is an endeavor of personal daily practice, horse training and connection, guiding yoga classes for others both in private and group settings, sharing yoga experiences in yoga retreats, with and without the equine component, and in Yoga Teacher Training courses.

I had the great fortune to attend my first YTT with my daughter in Goleta, CA, from Sue Ann and Jim Parsons in their studio, Let It Go Yoga. From there I continued my studies in Yoga Therapy from the Andiappan Institute in Chennai, India and finished my 500 hours of YTT from the Association of Meditation and Yoga in Rishikesh, India.

I believe in the transformative nature of a Yoga practice.
